Lesson 4: Students practice reading comprehension strategies on a new visual text.

Lesson 6: Students learn about adjectives, noun groups and verb groups, and continue to practice making and supporting effective inferences.
Lesson 7: Students learn about three types of questions they can ask to break down a text's ideas.
Lesson 8: Students continue to learn about three types of comprehension questions, and also learn how to paraphrase information effectively.
Lesson 9: Students complete a final piece of extended writing, practicing supporting their ideas about a text with examples and inferences.

Lesson 1: Students learn about what makes an effective presentation, and practice giving speeches using gesture, tone, eye contact and volume.
Lesson 2: Students learn a range of techniques that can be used in persuasive writing to make it more effective.
Lesson 3: Students learn about what makes an effective advertisement and practice their own persuasive writing.
Lesson 4: Students continue to examine a range of advertisements, learning to support their answers with examples from the text, and practice their own persuasive writing.
Lesson 5: Students learn how to use PEEL to structure a persuasive body paragraph, and how to use examples to support their position.
Lesson 6: Students learn how to write an effective introduction and conclusion.
Lesson 7: Students complete a case study of a persuasive speech, practicing reading comprehension and learning how to identify persuasive devices.

Students will focus on creative writing, including poetry, critical thinking and text analysis, and key writing foundations to build literacy skills, including initial essay writing and starting longer form content.
Students can start their studies once they have successfully enrolled in the subject. They will complete a quiz at the start and end of the lesson to review and retain their knowledge to apply to future exams.
