What is covered in year 4 maths?
By the end of year 4 maths, students should be confident in their problem-solving skills and ability to use technology to investigate mathematical concepts and check solutions. They should be able to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and money and recognise units of measurement like depth, weight and capacity and units of time. They will also learn basic graphing techniques. These skills are essential for their success in their maths NAPLAN.

How do I start studying year 4 math?
Students can commence their studies after successfully enrolling in year 4 maths. They will review the previous week’s lesson at the start of each lesson and recap the concepts they’ve learned at the end to increase their retention to succeed in their NAPLAN.
How many terms are in maths for year 4?
Math year 4 has four terms, including:
- Term 1 — Students will study whole numbers, addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.
- Term 2 — Students will learn patterns and number sequences, odd and even numbers properties, algebra word problems, lengths, perimeter, area, volume and capacity.
- Term 3 — Our students will explore mass, time and 3D and 2D shapes, including symmetry.
- Term 4 — Students will study angles, position, data and chance.
Each term has nine weekly lessons, which will introduce students to mathematical concepts, allow them to practise their skills, demonstrate their knowledge and review the end of the lesson.
