What is covered in year 8 English?
Our Year 8 English program covers the full syllabus, ensuring that your child learns everything they need to succeed at school and, importantly, in the NAPLAN in Year 9.
Our year 8 English tutors will ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding and application of literary, analytical and communication skills. Students will develop their analytical and persuasive skills and analyse various complex texts. They’ll build their ability to utilise language and communicate their intended purpose, audience and context. How do I start studying year 8 English?

How many terms are in year 8 English?
Our Year 8 math program covers all the elements of the syllabus. There are four terms in our year 8 English tutoring course:
- Term 1 — Students will learn what makes a poem ‘uniquely Australia,’ analyse poetic techniques, write extended responses, consider the concept of rhetoric and persuasive writing and use these techniques to make their work engaging.
- Term 2 — Students will evaluate how authors integrate historical information into their works with a close focus on war writing. They will implement these skills into their writing.
- Term 3 — A close study of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will teach students how to analyse a dramatic text and focus on how the text explores complex themes and values.
- Term 4 — By investigating how intercultural experiences shape how we view the world and the people around us, students will explore the theme of “belonging” and the individual’s relationship to society. Students will write analytically, including planning and structuring essay responses and completing creative narrative writing tasks.
Each term includes nine weekly lessons with a practice test to ensure students have engaged with and learned the relevant concepts for each term.
